Danelle | State College Senior photographer
I get asked often if I photograph non-furry kids and the answer is yes! While my preference is to work with the furry ones, I do love kids and think it’s important to capture important times in their lives too. So when I was asked by Danelle’s mom if I would be willing to photograph her senior photos, I said absolutely!
There’s something special about being 17. You have your whole life ahead of you, yet you’re not quite old enough to be out on your own. You have responsibilities, yet mom and dad still help out in many ways. While I would say I like my life and where I’m at now, sometimes I think back to the lazy days of summer when I had all day to do absolutely nothing at all. Maybe watch the clouds, read a book or swim and play tennis. I miss those days sometimes.
Danelle and her family vacationed with us at the beach last month. I knew it would be the perfect backdrop for her senior photos. Early one morning I took a walk along the boardwalk to scout some locations. I found some great buildings that fit her personality. The bad news, she needed to be up and ready to go by 7 am! Now me, I wake up with the sun. But Danelle, if we see her before lunchtime, I’d say that’s a miracle!
In spite of the early morning call, she did great! She loved the spots I found for her and when I showed her the ones I liked least, I knew she’d say it was her favorite. We had the perfect light, a nice overcast sky gave us plenty of time to work.
She also wanted some photos on the beach, so one evening after we did family photos, she and I stuck around to get some shots of just her. We lucked out with the light again, and she did an awesome job rocking the camera! In the end, I had so many great images to choose from, I had a hard time narrowing them down. Here are a few of my favorites.
And If you have non-furry kids that you’d like to get photos of, give me a call and let’s chat!
