Project 52: Week 9 - Shooting From the Hip
This week's Project 52 theme is shooting from the hip. Basically it means holding the camera at hip level or lower, such as at pet level, and capturing images without looking through the viewfinder. It's a technique that results in a lot of misses, but some fun and interesting perspectives as well. I don't shoot this way enough. It does take practice to get good at it, and something I need to do more often. It's great for pets who like to interact closely to me while I'm photographing them and for capturing street scenes without anyone know I'm taking photos.
For these images, I took Izzy up to the Penn State campus and had her run toward me as I held a toy next to my camera. We did a lot of running back and forth and I love some of the close up images I captured.
Here's a couple that I totally missed!
And the ones I deemed keepers!
I have a hard time keeping the camera straight, but it does mean getting some interesting angles!
Gotta take a break from playing to make a snow dog!
I love these of her getting really close to the camera! So much fun!
Hope you enjoyed my take on this theme. I participate as part of a blog ring with pet photographers from all over the world.
