5 Ways to Celebrate Dog Mom Day

The relationship we share with our pups is a special one. For many of us, they are not just dogs, but members of the family. Even best friends. It's no surprise really given how much they give to us.

They are the constant in an ever changing life. The one who greets us at the door every time we return home. Who listens to our secrets. And shares in all the ups and downs we experience.

Did you know? Dog mom day has been celebrated officially since 2018. Of course, I celebrate being a dog mom everyday!

This is a great excuse to spend some quality time with your favorite furry friends. Here are 5 ways to celebrate with your favorite pooch -

1. Go on a hike to your favorite dog friendly park. Spend the day together making memories you’ll always forget. Why not let your dog lead the way and follow their nose?

2. Take your dog to a dog friendly cafe, brewery, beer garden or restaurant. With so many towns becoming dog friendly and opening up outdoor cafes, use today as an excuse to go check one of those new restaurants you’ve been wanting to eat at.

3. Make homemade dog treats. Be sure to include a special treat for yourself. Here’s a quick and easy frozen treat. You probably already have the ingredients in your kitchen right now!

Frozen Peanut Butter Ice Cream

Dice up a ripe banana and freeze for 4 hours. Place frozen banana slices, 2 Tablespoons peanut butter and 2 Tablespoons plain yogurt until smooth. Freeze mixture in bowl and serve when solid.

4. Go shopping at a dog friendly store. Stores like Tractor Supply Company, Home Depot, Lowe's and TJ Maxx allow dogs. It’s a great experience for them, not to mention all the attention they’ll get, and you can pick up some items you need anyways.

5. Capture the special bond you share with a photoshoot and make memories you'll treasure forever! I promise you won't regret it! As a dog mom, the photos I have with my pups are some of my most treasured possessions. Even more so after saying goodbye to my golden girl a year ago. We don’t have enough time with them - these photos mean even more as the years go by.

Tell me how you plan to celebrate Dog Mom day!
