Ready, set and....action!
If you’ve got a puppy, a young dog, an energetic or hyper dog, you may be thinking investing in a pet photography session would not be a good idea. But you’re wrong! Here’s why.
Sure, everyone always thinks of that perfect pose with the head tilted just the right angle, eyes open, big smiles (yes, dogs do smile) and looking straight at the camera. I won’t disagree that these make beautiful images.
But action shots elicit some of the best emotional reactions from my clients. The ears flying in the wind. The silly facial expressions our dogs make when taking off on a run. How our dogs look like rabbits when their hind legs almost catch their front legs. All four legs in the air at the same time.
Having dogs run, chase balls or even walk with their owners is a great way for them to release some of that excess energy during their photoshoot. And we’ll get fun photos. I find these are not typically the ones my clients will have printed for their wall art, but they are perfect for a storybook album or desktop art.
An added bonus is that this is entertaining resulting in everyone having a great time.
Sound amazing? I can hear your protest - my dog will run away if I let him run off leash. No worries, there are ways to work around this. I have a long lead so dogs won’t be loose. Or you can run with your dog. And if you don't want to be in the photos, then we’ll strategically place you so later we can crop the image down or remove you in post editing.
Here are a few action shots I’ve captured. Let me know if you couldn’t help but feel happy looking at them.
